It is a variant of the vector space model developed for Information Retrieval. Our technology was originally developed in the 1960s by the Department of Defense to search large databases, and two University of Colorado scientists commercialized the technology in 1981 for use in a concept-based search engine. In 1998 our company acquired this AI technology and developed the foundation for our FastTracker product. What marks CA from competing approaches is that it analyzes content in human terms. It is based on meaningful themes, human understanding of terms and their relevance to those themes. The texts and queries can be presented in their natural language and do not have to be prepared for processing by CA nor tagged by reviewers. Furthermore, it avoids the limitations and unnaturalness of keyword and Boolean systems. For example, using our search engine, a query containing the phrase “President Bush’s dog” included in the search results a related document about “President Clinton’s cat”. Content Analysis Using Artificial Intelligence The process of breaking up an object into its constituent elements is a basic technique that is widely applied. Here are a few examples: a light source is decomposed into its basic spectrum a sound is analyzed into its component harmonics a compound is broken down to it chemical elements a text is broken down into its n-gram frequencies to identify the language it was written in Our technology breaks down a piece of text into its thematic elements. When an unknown text is profiled (or vectorized), its vector components measure the relative strength of a given theme that can be detected in that text. CA technology is an example of artificial intelligence. It makes use of themes as defined by humans, terms selected by humans, and ratings provided by humans. Adaptability to Unique Textual Content Fast Data Technology can assist you in developing unique text analysis that is specific to the nature of the text you need to examine, including foreign language (i.e. non-English) text. Using our specialized CA tools, words and phrases can be judged and rated as to their degree of relevance to a predefined set of thematic "dimensions," forming what is called a Judgment Base Matrix, or JBM. The JBM that we use with our FastTracker product consists of a vocabulary of over 47,000 words and phrases that have been judged as to their degree of relevance to a set of over 190 conceptual dimensions. But if this JBM doesn’t meet your needs, a unique JBM can be readily generated that is attuned to the textual data that you deal with. When coupled with our analysis engine, we deliver text analysis that is tailored to your specific requirements.
